For beginners, we always suggest easy trails, so that you can decide whether you will really like it and not experience any difficulties.

Following the ABNT 15505-2 standards, which discusses criteria for evaluating trails and hikes, there are 4 criteria:

  • Severity of the environment – risks and characteristics arising from the natural environment, such as temperature, rainfall, ease of rescue, etc.;
  • Guidance of the route – refers to the degree of difficulty for orientation, such as the presence of signage, well-marked trails, presence of reference points, among others, to complete the route;
  • Terrain conditions – refers to the aspects found on the route in relation to the surface and the conditions for walking it, such as types of surfaces, sections with obstacles, sections with loose stones, among others;
  • Intensity of physical effort – refers to the amount of physical effort required to complete the route, taking into account length and unevenness (ascents and descents), considering a typical client. A typical client is considered an adult, non-athlete and with light luggage.

On most of the trails we do, there are no bathroom facilities. We suggest that you always use a shit tube or dig a hole in the ground to bury your waste whenever possible, and never leave any type of material like toilet paper in the forest. This is our popular “Matoalete”… hahaha.

First, we suggest that you always wear a backpack with two straps, so that your hands are free and your balance is good while walking. The backpack should contain the following items: personal hygiene items (e.g. toilet paper); sunscreen; insect repellent; regular medication; snacks; water; raincoat; extra battery for your cell phone; waterproof backpack cover. We always suggest that participants bring an extra set of clothes. These extra sets of clothes will be kept in our transport to be used at the end of the trail.

When there are no facilities on our route such as restaurants, bars or similar, we always suggest that participants bring their own food, which can include: pastries, sandwiches, pizza, fruit, cheese, salami, etc.

First of all, we need to evaluate what the trail will be, where the trail will be, what weather we will face, etc. Having done that, here are some tips for a wet trail like the famous Trilha do Rio do Boi in the Aparados da Serra National Park, starting with the head: cap, dry fit t-shirt with UV protection and long sleeves, shorts, high socks, boots or sneakers with strong soles.

This question will also depend on which trail you are going to take.

Let’s answer in parts, for example, the Rio do Boi Trail (a trail with a lot of water); we can use sneakers that are lighter and won’t weigh you down when wet, but are more prone to ankle sprains. We can also use boots that provide more protection for the ankle area, but are heavy to walk on when wet. Always remember the tip: never go on a trail with new, brand new shoes!! Your feet will thank you if the shoes are already shaped to your size.

If the terrain is regular and flat, always prefer sneakers. Assess and ask us what the terrain will be like!

We work in the following way regarding rain and weather, since our entertainment is outdoors:

– In summer or when temperatures are close to 20 degrees, the events take place as normal. Except in cases where the safety of the participants is at risk, such as inside canyons.
– In winter or when temperatures are close to 20 degrees, with forecast of constant or torrential rain, the event is postponed to a new date.
